Tending your Body like you tend a garden

acellis3

Your body wants to be perfect and is constantly seeking harmony. It wants to be strong and mobile and energized. If your body, and how you feel in it, doesn't feel light, agile, capable, balanced, strong, and working beautifully, it needs tending. Just like a garden space, it yearns to grow and thrive. And it needs certain things to do so.

A useful analogy is the garden. If you let weeds overtake a garden space, if you do not actively manage and care for the space, other species take over and now you have a garden that no longer serves you. It is merely a space for other life to take from and take over; weeds, invasives, slugs, beetles. The soil becomes a host, merely, not creative and fertile; not productive. There will be nothing left for you if you neglect a garden space, and trying to get that space under control again after letting it go wild by natural inertia is a huge and daunting task.

It is similar with your organic body. If you let the daily routines of life outside your body carry you along without exerting any force to push back on the processes of aging, you too will have little to no muscle, will eventually loose bone density, and have an increased risk of chronic diseases like heart disease, diabetes, respiratory disease, and other co-factors such as being over weight, having high blood pressure, high cholesterol and having a musculoskeletal system in a severe state of degeneration and injury.

These are scientific facts based in the reality of natural phenomenon. If you don't tend your body, it will break down, sometimes rapidly.

Humans are funny creatures. We often assign abstract judgments to very simple, logical truths. We muck it all up. We complicate it. Some people think that healthy, fit, happy, lean folks were born that way; that they just have "good genetics' and they would be wrong. All those people tend themselves, put effort into preserving and regenerating and building and healing their bodies. It is a time investment of the most important kind, both physically and mentally.

And ultimately it is your responsibility to do so, and no one else gets to have a say in how or why you need tend yourself. So slough off any comment about your project. It isn't yours to weed. That's someone else's garbage to compost, not yours.

All humans need certain types of tending and care to help their bodies live well and age well. We were all born to do this, no matter what your parents look like or how much weight you may have gained during pregnancy. These things are arbitrary, and not predictors of what your true or ideal body-health potential is. Healthy, nutritious and abundant food, healthy, plentiful movement and exercise, and mental and emotional connection and positive energy regeneration are all required.

Let go of judgement, shame, guilt.

You have permission.

Your body is your own responsibility.

No one can do as good a job as you.

You are your very own best healer.

We are merely guides, walking beside you.

Save yourself, tend your garden. Your body will thank you.

Love, Amber
