How to Live Hardcore

By Amber Ellis Johnson

What do I mean when I say "hardcore" health? What does that even mean for aging women, often middle aged or more?

Hardcore living, when one is more or less VERY responsible, adult, and at a more advanced stage in life, means something different than it would for a 20 year old. It means living bravely, boldly, and GOING for it: Going for all you want to get out of your life. It means valuing your health and performance goals MORE THAN your transient and fickle feelings.

It is HARDCORE to live your values.

It is HARDCORE to be unafraid to try new things you will not be good at at first.

It is HARDCORE to prioritize physical fitness over immediate gratification.

It is HARDCORE to persevere, to push yourself!

It is 100% HARDCORE to live a more disciplined and intentional lifestyle in order to reach your long term goals.

It is hardcore to say no thank you to random, mid week, unplanned donuts. It is hardcore to wake up at 4:30 a.m. to be sure you get in a full and heavy workout before a full workday. It is hardcore to go to bed at 9 p.m. most nights, to decide to live alcohol free, and to ;ake 3-4 awesome workouts weekly one of your #1 priorities, along with paying close attention to what and how much you eat, all day, every day.

Hard Work Pays Off. And it is Hardcore to live that fact long term; Not easy, not convenient, but worthwhile in a deeply satisfying way.

So, you can live hardcore as a 65 year old grandmother. You can be absolutely hardcore as a mother of 3 young children who still need you constantly. You can be hardcore at the beginning of your journey as well as intermediate.

No, you do not need to have a tattoo or wear black leather to be hardcore, hahaha. Although, I do ;)

Being a hardcore, badass woman is a mindset that glows hot with purpose and self validation and confidence. It is all about self-respect, and being willing to push your own personal boundaries in service of GROWTH.

So, ladies, no matter what stage in the game you are at, approach each day like the insatiable, hungry Tiger-goddess that you are. Go after what you want with intensity. Take small risks, find your boundaries and push them, then break them, then shatter them, little by little. Shock yourself with what you can do! All is possible, so believe in yourself. Seek to strengthen your weaknesses until you feel rock solid, in body, and then in mind.

Your body, my dears, will thank you.

Love, Amber
